You have been directed to this page because a story you posted to Fieldlines Forum was deemed to be lacking in sufficient information to provide help in an efficient manner. This page is here to assist you in getting an answer to your question in the most effective way without our users having to request additional info from you in comments.

This is not a punishment.

You have not been singled out, anyone posting an unclear question will be directed here.

We sincerely want to help folks find solutions.

All links in this document will open in either a new window or a new tab, depending on your browser.

First, go read This. In particular the Before You Ask and When You Ask sections.

Then search the forum using the google forum search.

If that doesn't help then go to FieldLines Front Page and at least skim the first dozen or so pages of headers to see if it was discussed in the recent past.

Taking these steps shows us you are serious about learning and not expecting to be spoon fed information.

Knowledge is here and is free of financial cost, but you have to put some effort into getting it.

Now, if you have done this, you will be able to post an informed, coherent question to our forum.

Do not be worried about asking for clarification of a point you do not understand, even if the subject has been covered. If you do not understand what you have read, by all means ask for additional explanation.

For technical questions on equipment you have, wish to acquire or need to connect we will need the following information at a bare minimum.

  1. Full description of what you are trying to accomplish.
  2. All parameters of your system: Charging sources, voltage, expected power and equipment installed, pretty much all the details even if it seems unimportant to you.
  3. System Voltage, Battery bank size and type and how it is configured.
  4. Make and model of any equipment you are asking about. [with links to manufacturer if possible]

Alternator construction and connection questions will require some or all of the following:

  1. Battery bank size and type.
  2. Magnet # and size / grade
  3. # of coils with # of turns and wire size, as well as how they are connected.
  4. Cabling size and run length to battery bank.

As far as information on what you are asking about, more info is much better than not enough.
Example:

#1: My glickenstein controller isn't working. Please help.

#2: My Glickenstein Model #GS96 rev B diversion controller [website link] keeps overcharging my battery bank.

My 48 volt 900 Amp Hour battery is fed from 300 watts of solar and one 400 watt hornet turbine.

I have the controller set to divert power when the bank exceeds 58 volts and stop diverting when it reaches 55 volts. It never kicks into diversion mode unless I manually trigger it, then it works properly.

Now who is going to get quality help?
